U20 WNT secures first place in Group C
Another clinical performance from Trinity Rodman helped the U.S. U20 WNT to first place in Group C at the Concacaf Championship on Wednesday.
Rodman scored four times, including a first-half hat trick, as the USA easily handled Honduras by an 11-0 score.
Head coach Laura Harvey made seven changes once again to the starting lineup from Monday's win against the Dominican Republic.
And after 13 minutes of scoreless soccer, Rodman's first goal opened the floodgates against an overmatched opponent. Rodman, Shae Holmes and Katelyn Duong scored a trio of goals in five minutes, to make it a 3-0 lead in the 18th minute. A pair of Honduras own goals and two more strikes from Rodman ensured the U.S. held a 7-0 lead at the break.
Summer Yates scored twice in the second half, while Rodman nabbed her fourth in the 71st minute, before a third own goal round out the scoring.
The U.S. U20s advance as first-place finishers in Group C to the Round of 16, where they'll face St. Lucia on Saturday, February 29 at 3 p.m. ET.
Starting Lineup: Julia Dohle; Emily Mason, Brianna Martinez, Naomi Girma (Capt.) (Maycee Bell, 46), Shae Holmes; Sierra Enge, Talia DellaPeruta (Samantha Meza, 59), Katelyn Duong (Alexa Spaanstra, 71); Trinity Rodman, Summer Yates, Rebecca Jarrett
