Coming off a highly successful three-game run at the Four Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain, the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team will come together for a training camp from April 13-20 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. that will be held concurrently with a U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team camp.

The two squads will scrimmage each other on April 16 at 10 a.m. PT and on April 19 at 4 p.m. PT.

In Spain, the USA defeated Norway, 3-1, Sweden by a 6-0 score and finished off with a 2-1 victory against England as Stephanie Ochs of NWSL’s Washington Freedom scored a game-winner in the 85th minute.

U.S. head coach Randy Waldrum has named 21 players for the event and may add several more before the camp commences. Several players on the La Manga roster are currently with NWSL clubs, so the roster will consist primarily of collegiate players and several professionals playing overseas. Defender Julie Johnston, who scored twice in Spain, is currently with the full U.S. Women’s National Team in Germany and will not attend the U23 event.

The roster features 10 players from the U.S. team that won the 2012 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Japan, including Kealia Ohai, who scored in both the semifinal and the World Cup Final, notching the game-winner in the 1-0 victory against Germany.

Three other players who scored in the U20 Women’s World Cup – midfielders Morgan Brian and Vanessa DiBernardo and forward Chioma Ubogagu – were also named to the U23 roster.

Two foreign-based players will join the squad: former Western Kentucky star Libby Stout, who is playing in France with Yzeure, and defender Toni Pressley, who is playing in Russia with Ryazan VDV.

The roster also includes the first-ever national team call-up from Cal State Stanislaus in forward Karenee Demery.
