UAB women's soccer adds ten recruits
The UAB women's soccer team and head coach Harold Warren announced the additions of 10 newcomers on Wednesday. UAB welcomes Jordan Barham, Landen Bowman, Courtney Carraway, Marin Carter, Kelsey Daugherty, Jessica Diem Do, Caroline Kehrer, Megan Mintman, Megan Morrow and Kristin Telford, who will be joining the program for the 2015 season.
Details on all of the new Blazers are below, along with Warren's comments on the signing class.
"As a whole, these athletes bring commitment, determination, passion, talent, athleticism and a work ethic that will definitely help our program," Warren said. "I am looking forward to what the 2015 season holds with these young ladies as new members of our UAB women's soccer team, program and family."
Jordan Barham - Defender - Woodstock, Ga. (Woodstock HS)
Jordan Barham begins her career with UAB after four years of varsity soccer at Woodstock High School in Georgia. During Barham's career, Woodstock clinched its first regional championship in school history, and added a pair of county championships. Barham received all-county honors each year of her high school career as well as all-region selections three times. Voted MVP of her team three times, she played in all-star games her sophomore, junior and senior years of high school. Outside of high school, Barham helped her club team, NASA, to the 2012 and 2013 state cup finals, while winning a division championship as part of an undefeated squad in 2015.
Landen Bowman - Midfielder - Cumming, Ga. (West Forsyth HS)
Landen Bowman joins the Blazers after a career as a four-year varsity letterman at West Forsyth High School in Georgia. Chosen as the captain of her team for her senior season, Bowman owns the career assist record for her school. Bowman rounds out her high school resume with all-county and all-region selections in 2014. Outside of high school soccer, Bowman was a member of the Norcross Fury Premier club soccer team, where she helped her team to Region III Southern Championship Semi-Finalist finishes in 2013 and 2014.
Courtney Carraway - Forward - Gulfport, Miss. (Gulfport HS)
Courtney Carraway joins the UAB soccer program after padding 52 goals and 17 assists through her junior year at Gulfport HS in Mississippi. Carraway was a state finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman after winning it at her school, and was selected top offensive player for 2013-14. She was a Mississippi All-Star selection by the Mississippi Association of Coaches as well as a Division 6A All-District pick her sophomore and junior years. Outside of high school soccer, Carraway was an ODP Regional Pod alternate, and was a member of Gulf Coast United Select for four years and FC United Select for a year.
Marin Carter - Midfielder - Little Rock, Ark. (Conway HS)
Marin Carter arrives at UAB after playing soccer for coach Kevin Destefano at Conway HS in Arkansas. Carter was an all-state choice in 2012 after helping her team to a conference championship and state runner-up finish. Carter played club football for the Rush National Team from 2010-13 and Texas Rush in 2014, and was a participant in the U.S. National Camp in 2012.
Kelsey Daugherty - Goalkeeper - Kennesaw, Ga. (Harrison HS)
Kelsey Daugherty comes to UAB after playing for coach Steve Riccard at Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga. Daugherty helped her team to a state championship in 2014, as well as region championships from 2012-14.
Jessica Diem Do - Midfielder - Warner Robins, Ga. (Houston County HS)
Jessica Diem Do comes to Birmingham after playing for Jason Kirk at Houston County HS in Warner Robins, Ga. Diem Do was named player of the year in Georgia in the spring of 2013, and was an all-state selection in 2014. Diem Do rounded out her high school honors with all-county selections in 2013 and 2014. Her club soccer experience came with Macon United, where she won the Atlanta Cup in 2012 and the Athena A championship in 2013.
Caroline Kehrer - Forward - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (Kelvin HS)
Caroline Kehrer joins the UAB soccer team from Kelvin High School in Winnipeg. Kehrer helped Kelvin to city championships from 2012-14 and won a provincial championship and league MVP in 2014. Away from school, Kehrer played with Soccer's Best Academy for the past three years.
Megan Mintman - Midfielder - Pewee Valley, Ky. (Christian Academy of Louisville)
Megan Mintman joins the Blazers by way of the Christian Academy of Louisville in Kentucky. The Pewee Valley, Ky. native received numerous honors over the course of her high school career, highlighted by a 2014 all-state second team choice, all-district tournament team selections from 2011-14, Region 7 first team selections from 2012-14 and a Region 7 all-tournament team pick in 2013. Mintman helped her high school team to district championships in all four years of her high school career, a Region 8 championship in 2011, Region 7 finalist finishes in 2012 and 2013 and a Region 8 semi-finalist finish in 2014. In her club career, Mintman helped the Kentucky Fire Juniors to state championships in 2011 and 2014, as well as a region semifinalist finish in 2013.
Megan Morrow - Defender - Huntsville, Ala. (Grissom HS)
Megan Morrow was a four-year starter at Grissom High School in Huntsville before joining UAB for the upcoming season. Selected as captain for her senior season, Morrow was an Alabama State All-Star North Team member, an All-Tennessee Valley team selection and was named team MVP her junior season. Morrow added all-tournament selections in her freshman and sophomore years and was an all-city team honoree her sophomore season. In her club career, she helped her team to state championships in 2009, 2012 and 2013, and a state runner-up finish in 2011.
Kristin Telford - Defender - Lilburn, Ga. (Parkview HS)
Kristin Telford joins the Blazers after lettering all four years and winning the 2012-13 state championship at Parkview HS in Georgia. She was a first-team all-region selection for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, and added an all-country first team selection from the Gwinnett Daily Post for the 2012-13 season.
