The UDC Defense remained stout once again throughout the game, registering a shutout for the 3rd time in 6 outings. Led by Nana Bamfo and sophomore goalkeeperKyle Heatherington (Collingwood Ontario, Canada - Collingwood Collegiate Institute), the Firebirds didn't give up any shots in the overtime period. The Firebirds only got one chance in overtime, but capitalized on the opportunity and finished the game off.
UDC Head Coach Matt Thompson had this to say about the overtime victory, "It's good to get a win after Sunday's loss to Queens, and I am happy our guys bounced back tonight. We played fairly well, possessed the ball, and worked hard for the entire match. It was a great goal from Nana to win it. We are looking forward to a big week next week and our match against Charleston on Monday."
The Firebirds return to action on Monday, September 26th as they travel to Charleston, West Virginia to take on the University of Charleston at 4:00 pm.
