#UDWSOC FALLS 2-1 TO INDIANA AT OSU TOURNEY
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team (2-3-1) suffered its second consecutive loss to a Big Ten conference opponent at the Ohio State Tournament with a 2-1 loss to Indiana (4-2-0) Sunday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Flyers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Buckeyes on Friday night.
The Flyers outshot IU 13-8, but the Hoosiers had six shots on goal to Dayton's five. Junior Nicole Waters took a game-high five shots, including one off the crossbar in the 67th minute.
Indiana struck in the 57th minute and held onto the 1-0 lead until UD senior Kelsey Smigel scored her first goal of the season. In the 81st minute she finished a cross from fellow seniorAllison Klinefelter that was flicked on by junior Ashley Campbell.
IU struck again in the 87th minute to capture the win.
Elizabeth James had four saves in goal for the Flyers.
Dayton will travel to the West Coast for matches against two nationally-ranked opponents next week. The Flyers take on No. 16 Santa Clara on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. ET and No. 4 Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. ET.
