#UDWSOC SHUTS OUT FORDHAM 2-0 ON SENIOR DAY
DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team (7-8-1, 3-2-0 A-10) picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over Fordham (6-8-1, 0-4-1 A-10) Sunday at Baujan Field.
Prior to the match the Flyers honored their five seniors: Heather Betancourt, Haley Keller, Allison Klinefelter, Chelsea Rose and Kelsey Smigel.
Smigel celebrated senior day by scoring the game-winning goal in the 13th minute with an assist from Klinefelter. It marked Smigel's 22nd career goal.
Betancourt earned the shutout in goal for the Flyers and notched three saves in the 90-minute effort.
Junior Ashley Campbell, who was recently ranked No. 49 by TopDrawerSoccer in its National Top 100 Players Poll, scored in the 18th minute to pad UD's lead. Junior Nicole Waters had the assist on the play. The goal marked the 39th of Campbell's career, which ties her for fourth all-time at UD. The assist was the 27th career helper for Waters which is tied for fifth all-time at UD.
The Flyers play just one road match next weekend, takiong on Richmond on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
