April 27, 2012

The University of Utah women’s soccer team announced its 2012 schedule Wednesday which includes eight home games to be played at Ute Field. The regular season will kick off on Aug. 17 with a neutral-site match against Utah State at Rio Tinto Stadium, the home of Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake.

The Utes will host non-conference home games against Southern Utah (Aug. 23), rival BYU (Aug. 25) and Big 12 power Texas (Sept. 8). Utah’s non-conference road slate includes matches at Colorado College (Aug. 30) and Weber State (Sept. 1) as well as an appearance at the Boise State Tournament, where the Utes will take on Portland State (Sept. 14) and the host Broncos (Sept. 16).

Utah begins its Pac-12 Conference schedule at Oregon State on Sept. 21, then returns to Salt Lake City for five consecutive home games at Ute Field. During that stretch, the Utes will host Washington State (Sept. 28), Washington (Sept. 30), defending national champion Stanford (Oct. 5), California (Oct. 7) and Oregon (Oct. 12).

The Utes will complete their regular-season schedule with five consecutive road games as they travel to USC (Oct. 19), UCLA (Oct. 21), Arizona State (Oct. 26), Arizona (Oct. 28) and Colorado (Nov. 2). The NCAA Tournament begins on Nov. 16, where the Utes hope to make their first appearance since 2006.

“Our Pac-12 thrill ride continues this fall,” said Utah head coach Rich Manning. “I look at the schedule and the adrenaline starts flowing. The local rivalries continue along with the good regional games and of course, our great conference matches. For Ute fans we’ve got Texas, BYU, and great Pac-12 games here in Salt Lake City. We look forward to seeing everyone rocking their Utah Soccer scarves at Ute Field as we grow into a championship program.”
