UTPA Plays Jackson State to Draw

JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Broncs women’s soccer team played 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Jackson State to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Sunday at the JSU Soccer Complex.
Sophomore Sheridan Becanic, who transferred to the Broncs (1-0-1) from Eastern Washington, scored her first-career goal on her only shot at 22:34 to put the Broncs up 1-0.
Sie’Yara Wells responded for the Tigers (0-1-1) with a goal at 39:20, marking the first goal allowed by freshman goalkeeper Aubrie Coley (1-0-1) after starting the season with 149:20 minutes of shutout soccer.
Coley responded with 70:40 minutes of scoreless play and five saves the rest of the way. Her goals against average now stands at 0.45.
Tigers goalkeeper Kylie Christian (0-1-1) made one save in each half of regulation, on shots by freshman Aimie Inthoulay.
The Broncs play their first-ever home match on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Gates open at 5. There will be a pre-match tailgate part in the parking lot starting at 4 with free food, music and a station dedicated to creating noisemakers.
