Vanderbilt Earns First-Ever Top 5 Ranking
February 1, 2021
For the first time in program history, Vanderbilt has earned a spot inside the nation’s top five in the Top Drawer Soccer national poll. The first release of the 2020-21 season from the organization, Vanderbilt checks in at No. 5.
Previously, Vanderbilt’s highest national ranking was No. 7 in both the TDS and United Soccer Coaches polls on Oct. 23, 2018.
At No. 5, Vanderbilt comes in behind perennial powers Florida State, North Carolina, Stanford and UCLA, in that order. The rest of the top 10 follows with Virginia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, TCU and BYU.
Set to get its 2021 spring slate underway this month, Vanderbilt will meet a pair of teams within Top Drawer Soccer’s top 25 this spring with scheduled matchups against No. 23 Memphis on March 27 and a road tilt at No. 11 Duke on April 11 in the final match before the NCAA Tournament.
The Commodores’ 2021 campaign gets underway Feb. 21 when it visits Middle Tennessee State for its first of two exhibitions.
