Warhawks Tally a 3-0 Victory Over UW-Stout
Three different players scored their first goal of the season in a UW-Whitewater 3-0 victory over UW-Stout Friday at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. The win propels the Warhawks to their sixth straight victory, a 7-3-0 record overall and a 3-0-0 record in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils fall to 3-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the WIAC.
Natalie Lechner (Waukesha/Catholic Memorial) broke the scoreless tie in the eleventh minute of the game. Lechner floated a ball over the head of UW-Stout goalkeeper Robbie Shelby from the right side of the box.
The Warhawks outshot the Blue Devils 10-5 in the first half and carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the 68th minute, a flurry of action in front of the goal resulted in Sarah Sedlar (Racine/Case)'s first goal of the season and a 2-0 lead for the Warhawks.
UW-W put the game out of reach for the Blue Devils when Jessica Allemang (Wauwatosa/West) scored an unassisted goal in the 79th minute.
Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) notched her third shutout of the season making eight saves in the game.
The Warhawks topped the Blue Devils in every statistical category. UW-W outshot Stout 22-11, earned nine corner kicks to Stout's four, and made eight saves to Stout's six.
UW-W will travel to Wartburg on September 30 for a game against the 22nd ranked Knights. The last time these two teams met was in the 2011 NCAA tournament. The Warhawks won 6-5 on a shootout to advance to the sweet sixteen.
