Washington's Two Goals Propel Women's Soccer over Delaware 2-0
NEWARK, De. – Renee Washington scored two brilliant second-half goals to vault the La Salle women's soccer team to a 2-0 rain-shortened victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
The Explorers (1-0) got on the board four minutes into the second half on a brilliant finish from the sophomore striker.
Fifteen minutes later Washington struck again on another beautiful cross from Jess Hopton, who also assisted on the first tally.
Melissa Sanger made six saves in net to keep the clean sheet.
The goals for Washington are the 13th and 14th of her career. The shutout for Sanger is the 11th of her career.
La Salle will be back in action on Friday when they open their home schedule with a match up against city-rival Drexel. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from McCarthy Stadium.
