WATERS BECOME ALL-TIME LEADER IN ASSISTS
DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's soccer team celebrated senior day in style with a 6-1 victory over St. Bonaventure Sunday at Baujan Field in an Atlantic 10 matchup. The Flyers improve to 8-9-0 overall and 6-2 in A-10 play while the Bonnies drop to 5-10-2 overall and 2-6-0 in the A-10 standings.
STATS OF THE MATCH
• All five seniors started the match: Ashley Campbell, Lesley Chilton, Megan Herr, Alyson Smigel and Nicole Waters.
• Chilton, who scored the game-winning goal, and Smigel both notched their first collegiate goals.
• Waters had three assists in the match and her second assist, on the game-winning goal, made her UD’s all-time leader in career assists. She already holds the record for single-season assists at Dayton.
• Sophomore Alexis Kiehl recorded her first collegiate hat trick with goals in the first, 55th and 60th minutes.
• Dayton took a season-high 36 shots, including 21 on frame.
DAYTON GOALS
• 1st minute – Kiehl got the scoring going just 42 seconds into the match. Waters crossed the ball in from the left side and Kiehl finished to the back of the net. (Dayton 1, St. Bonaventure 0)
• 4th minute – Chilton scored her first-ever collegiate goal, the game-winning goal. Waters crossed the ball, Chilton made one move and then crushed it upper 90 far post. (Dayton 2, St. Bonaventure 0)
• 15th minute – Smigel’s shot soared past a defender and the goalkeeper after Kiehl set up the shot. (Dayton 3, St. Bonaventure 0)
• 55th minute – Kiehl scored her second of the match and sixth of the year after a combination pass from Smigel set her up to score low on the keeper far post. (Dayton 4, St. Bonaventure 1)
• 55th minute – Kiehl scored her first hat trick with a rebound off of a Chilton shot, who was set up by Kathleen Golterman (Dayton 5, St. Bonaventure 1)
• 71st minute – Leedom scored the final goal of the match with a header off a corner kick by Waters. (Dayton 6, St. Bonaventure 1)
ST. BONAVENTURE GOAL
• 32nd minute – Abby Maiello scored her 10th goal of the season, going low under the keeper, Lauren Hill played a ball over the top. (Dayton 3, St. Bonaventure 1)
UP NEXT
• The Flyers host Duquesne this Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field in their final regular season home match of the season.
Promotions include:
• UD Student Organizations will host a Trick or Treat event at Baujan Field and Collins Gym. Various student organizations will set up a space inside Collins Gym to pass out candy and provide interactive games for kids.
• The fun begins at 6:45 p.m leading up to the start of the Dayton women’s soccer match against Duquesne at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field.
• There will be a costume contest at halftime.
• Admission is free to all regular season Dayton home matches at Baujan.
