WILLIAMS BREAKS UD CAREER GOALS RECORD
INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Colleen Williams scored the first goal of the match against Butler Friday night to become the all-time leading goal scorer in University of Dayton women's soccer history, but the Flyers lost 3-2 in overtime in Atlantic 10 action. Dayton falls to 8-4-0 and 2-1-0 in the A-10. Butler, winning its first A-10 match, improves to 7-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the A-10. This marks Dayton's third overtime loss this season.
Williams scored her 12 goal of the season and record-breaking 53rd of her career in the 11th minute to give UD a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Allison Klinefelter had the assist on the record-breaking goal.
Butler's Kelly Mahoney scored less than two minutes later to tie up the match.
Junior Juliana Libertin scored her ninth goal of the season in the 19th minute to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead. Williams had the assist , her 11th of the season, which leads the NCAA.
Sophia Maccagnone scored in the 39th minute to even the score 2-2 at the half.
Neither team scored in the second half.
Elise Kotsakis scored the golden goal in the 98th minute in the first overtime to secure the victory for Butler.
Dayton plays at Saint Louis this Sunday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m.
