Win Streak Continues For Scots
EMORY, Va. -- Goals by Garrison Dale and Chris Pifer were all the Covenant Scots needed on Wednesday night to defeat Emory & Henry College 2-0 in cold and wet conditions. The win for Covenant is its fourth straight and pulls the Scots record to .500 at 6-6-2. The Wasps are now 4-11 for the season.
Dale got the scoring going for the Scots with his first goal of the season coming in the 4th minute of play. Hunter Harrison made a pass from around midfield towards the net and Dale was able to get up and head the ball into the back of the net for the score.
Dale was also involved in Covenant’s second goal of the evening. In the 76th minute, Dale took a free kick and Pifer managed to get into position to receive the ball and knock it through the upper left portion of the goal. The goal was Pifer’s first score this season as well.
Covenant keeper John Eger was kept busy as the Wasps outshot the Scots 10-9 on the night. Eger was up to the task, however, and saved all five of Emory & Henry’s shot on goal attempts. Covenant had an advantage in shots on goal (6-5) as well as in corner kicks (3-0).
The Scots will return home on October 25 to take on Reinhardt University at 7:30 p.m. at Scotland Yard.
