W&M women announces six additions for 2015
William and Mary head women’s soccer coach John Daly announced his six member 2015 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon. Mackenzie Kober, Arundel Miguelez, Claire Robbins, Sarah Segan, Marie Shine, and Sara Vigenare set to join the Tribe for the 2015 season.
“We have some pretty big shoes to fill, having graduated our leading scorer for the past two seasons in Emory Camper, as well as key players such as Emily Fredrikson, Aly Shaughnessy, Anna Madden, Taylor Dyson and Christina Popps,” Daly said. “All six graduating seniors have left an imprint on the women’s soccer program here and I am very confident that this incoming class will do the same. They will join a team, which is showing tremendous dedication this spring. All are anxious to put the Tribe back in the top sphere, where it belongs.”
Mackenzie Kober, Midfield/Defense, 5-5, Hunington, N.Y./Saint Anthony’s
Kober has played four years of varsity soccer at St. Anthony’s High School in New York. A decorated player, Kober has eared New York All-State Team (2013-14), All-Long Island High School Team (2014) honors, while helping her high school to the state championship in 2012 and 2014. During her senior season, she scored seven goals and had 12 assists for 26 points. Kober played her club soccer with the Farmingdale United Soccer Club, Eastern New York NYS ODP team, and was a member of the Inter-Regional Team. On the club circuit, she was an Inter-Regional team member in 2013, after being an attendee the year before. She was a member of the Region I regional pool from 2010-13, and invited to the regional camp from 2010-13. Kober was also a member of the ENYS ODP team, and helped lead the squad to a regional championship (2012), and a national championship final (2013). She also participated in the ODP National Training Camp in 2013. In the classroom, she is a member of the honor roll, National Honor Society, while also earning the Duns Scotus Award (2012-13), and the St. Bonaventure Award (2014). She participated in the Kolbe Council as a retreat leader, and is a Eucharistic Minister and Friar Faithful leader. Kober, who plans on majoring in marketing and finance at the College, enjoys fitness training, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and swimming during her spare time.

“I was fortunate enough to work with Mackenzie on the Region One team at the Inter- Regional event in Boca. She played three different positions for us and stood out in each one. Mackenzie is a versatile and very talented player. She could play a number of positions for us.”
Arundel Miguelez, Back, 5-10, Boston, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional
Miguelez is a three-sport athlete at Acton-Boxborough High School in Boston, playing soccer, basketball, and track. She spent three seasons on the varsity squad during high school. In 2012 she earned Boston Globe Player of the Week honors. During her junior season she earned DCL All-Star Second-Team honors. As a senior, Miguelez was tabbed a team captain of both her high school and club team. She earned DCL All-Start First-Team honors, Eastern Massachusetts All-Star, and was the only defender that was listed by the Boston Globe as a top goal scorer in the DCL League. From her defender spot, she scored eight goals and helped on three more during her senior season. Miguelez played her club soccer for the FC Stars of Massachusetts. The Boston, Massachusetts native is also a strong student earning honor roll accolades during her final three years of high school. She plans on majoring in education at the College, and enjoys coaching soccer, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family during her spare time.

“I saw Arundel play at the Jefferson Cup where she matched up with Sarah Segan. It was a battle royal with neither player prepared to give an inch. Arundel is a strong, physical center back and will add height and strength to our back line.”
Claire Robbins, Midfield/Back, 5-7, Herndon, Va./Oakton
Robbins plays varsity soccer at Oakton High School in Northern Virginia, while also enjoying a successful stint with her club team BRYC, where she played on their Elite W League Team. Her club team took first place at the National League U18 tournament, while also advancing to the finals of the Disney Showcase three straight years from 2013-15. In 2014, her U18 team was a USYS National Championship Semifinalist, while her W League team placed second in the Northeastern conference. Robbins’ mother Carolyn was also a collegiate student-athlete as well swimming and playing water polo at Bucknell. In the classroom, Robbins was a member of the debate team, while also participating in the Best Buddies program. Undecided on her intended major at William & Mary, she enjoys reading and theater in her free time.

“Claire is a defender/midfielder, also from the Braddock Road Elite team. She has good speed, strong defensive attributes and the ability to find players, even when under pressure. She is composed in possession and reads the game extremely well.”
Sarah Segan, Forward, 5-9, Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh
Segan is a three-sport athlete at Northwestern Lehigh in Fogelsville, Pennsylvania, playing soccer, basketball, and track and field. Segan was named Times News Player of the Year, Leigh Valley Player of the Year, Blue Ridge TV13 Female Athlete of the Season, as a junior and a senior while leading her team to the district championship and the state semifinals as senior. After earning honorable mention honors as a freshman, she went on to be First Team All-League (sophomore-senior), First Team All-Area (sophomore-senior), and First-Team All-State (sophomore-senior). Segan holds her high school record with goals scored with 139 tallies. She also played with the ODP Region I Inter-Regional team in 2013, and for the state ODP team that reached the Region I final in 2012. She is also decorated in both basketball and track, earning second team all-district honors on the basketball court, while being a member of the 4x800 league and district championship relay team. Her 4x800 team ran the fastest time in Northwestern Lehigh High School history. In the classroom, she is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, FCCLA, and Science National Honor Society. Segan, who plans to major in pre-med science at William & Mary, enjoys solving jigsaw puzzles and brain teasers, and watching movies in her spare time.

“Sarah is a fast, aggressive, physical forward with a knack for scoring goals. She reminds me very much of Tribe Hall of Famer Natalie Neaton. Sarah is not afraid to put her body on the line for the team and will give defenders nightmares over the next four years!”
Marie Shine, Midfield/Forward, 5-6, McLean, Va./McLean
Shine played four years of varsity soccer at McLean High School in Northern Virginia. She earned First-Team All-District and All-Region honors in 2013 and 2014, while being named to the All-Met honorable mention in 2013, before being named to the All-Met First-Team in 2014. Shine also helped her high school to a district championship and a state championship in 2010, before another district title in 2011. During her junior and senior season she was a team captain. Shine played her club soccer for the McLean Fury and the BRYC Elite. She had success with both programs, including being a state semifinalist with the McLean Fury, while also being a state finalist, national semi-finalist, and first place national league finish with the BRYC Elite. Shine, who plans to major in business management at the College, enjoys coaching, spending time with her family, cooking, and shopping in her spare time.

“Maire is a transfer from Northern Virginia Community College. She played for the Braddock Road Elite and is a very technical midfielder/forward with creative ability. Maire will benefit from training with the team during the spring, having transferred at the beginning of the semester.”
Sara Vigen, Goalkeeper, 5-7, Herndon, Va./South Lakes
Vigen played four year’s of varsity soccer at South Lakes High School in Northern Virginia. A decorated soccer player, she was a Second-Team All-District as a freshman, earned First-Team All-District, First-Team All-Region, and Second-Team All-State, and Washington Post All-Met honorable mention as sophomore and junior. Following her junior season she was named a Liberty District Player of the Year, and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Student-Athlete of the Year. She played her club soccer in the ECNL with FC Virginia. Vigen is set to embark on her senior soccer season in the coming months. In the classroom, she is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, National Society, FBLA, Taking Flight Mentor Program, and International Thespian Society. Vigen, who plans to major in business administration and management, enjoys volunteering, reading, biking, and swimming in her free time.
