Women's Soccer Blanks Notre Dame (OH) Falcon
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Battling cold winds and rain, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team managed to hang on to a 1-0 lead as they blanked the visiting Falcons of Notre Dame on Friday evening on Panther Field.
With the win, the Panthers improve to a 9-4-3 overall record and 5-3-3 in conference while the Falcons drop to 3-11 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
Scoring her sixth goal of the season, senior Jennifer Holton (Johnstown, Ohio) connected on a cross at the 15 yard line from freshman Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, Ohio) at the 34:03 mark in the first half.
ODU's defense held strong, allowing on two shots in the second half.
The Panthers outshot the Falcons 16-4, including nine shots on goal. The Black and Gold also held a 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Recording her 10th shutout of the season, sophomore goalkeeper Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich.) became the all-time season record holder in most shutouts in a season in Panther history.
ODU will welcome Lake Erie to Panther Field for a 2 pm conference match for senior day.
