Women's Soccer Falls 4-1, at Yale

October 9, 2011

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior midfielder Emma Brush(Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) scored her first goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the Dartmouth women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 contest to Yale at Reese Stadium on Saturday.

Dartmouth (3-8-0, 1-2-0 Ivy League) was trailing 3-0, when Brush collected the ball nearly 30 yards outside of the Yale box and fired a shot into the far post, but it wasn't enough to lead the Big Green to the victory.

Brush led the Big Green offense with three shots in the contest. Senior goalkeeper Colleen Hogan (Houston, Texas) made one save in 63:21 of action in net while Sam Fearer (Mesa, Ariz.) saw her first action of the season, making no saves in 26:39 of action.

Trailing 2-0 entering the second half, Yale added another goal in the 62nd minute of the game before Brush's goal cut into the Bulldog lead but Yale sealed the win by tacking on one more goal in the second half.

The Big Green opened the game with a scoring chance on a header from senior midfielder Ally Dutton (Granite Bay, Calif.) but Yale goalkeeper Adel Jackson-Gibson pushed it away to keep Dartmouth off the board. Classmate Aly O'Dea (Irvine, Calif.) hit a shot just minutes later, which forced the Jackson-Gibson to make a save.

Yale (5-4-2, 2-1 Ivy League) opened the scoring midway through the half with a goal from Melissa Gavin. Enma Mullo collected the ball in the midfield and passed  it to Gavin who footed it in the top left corner out of the reach of Hogan for early 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs added to their tally late in the half. Kristen Forester split the Dartmouth defense and put the ball in the inside far post.

Dartmouth continues Ivy League action at Penn on Saturday (Oct. 15). Kickoff between the Big Green and the Quakers is set for 5 p.m. at Penn's Rhodes Field.
