Women's Soccer Falls to Fredonia 2-1
ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (8-8-0) women's soccer had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 2-1 loss to Fredonia State (11-7-0) on a cold and rainy afternoon at RIT Field on Tuesday. The Tigers led up until the 85th minute, but the Blue Devils struck for a pair of goals in a minute sixteen span to hand the Tigers their first loss in five games.
After a scoreless first half, senior Kimi Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with her first goal of the season. Jackie Jacobson (Westlake, CA/Westlake) carried the ball through the midfield and fed Sisti with a nice pass out to the flank. Sisti cut the ball back around her defender and broke in on Fredonia keeper Kayleigh Forger, firing a hard shot that just tucked inside the near post giving the Tigers the lead.
RIT nearly took a 2-0 lead in the 70th minute on a nice run by Rachael Bromson (Suffield, CT/Suffield) and Jacobson. Bromson broke around her defender out on the right flank and broke down the sideline. Jacobson was making a good hard run down the center and narrowly missed a cross by Bromson that would have given the Tigers a two-goal advantage.
Kristi Putzig tied the game at 1-1 in the 85th minute. She gathered in a loosed ball inside the RIT penalty area and fired a shot that beat RIT goalie Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) cleanly.
A minute sixteen later, Reilly Condidorio gave the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead scoring off an assist from Katie Klein. Condidorio flicked a shot passed Valenti off a nice service from Kleine that gave the Blue Devils their first lead of the game.
