Fairfield, CT – Following a thrilling 1-0 overtime win on the road at LIU Brooklyn last Saturday, the Wagner College women's soccer team will look to close out its two-match road trip with its second straight win when the Seahawks take on the Sacred Heart University Pioneers on Friday at 2:00 p.m.

- In the 97th minute, freshman forward Luisa Barone blasted a long kick that curled into the far corner of the net in propelling the Wagner College women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime victory against LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
- With the win, the Seahawks improve to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action while the Blackbirds fall to 2-9-3 and 0-3-1 in conference play.
- Wagner's win was an historic one for second-year head coach Phil Casella, as it marked the first conference victory in his tenure as bench boss of the Seahawks. Additionally, the Seahawks improve to 5-0-1 against LIU Brooklyn in their last six meetings.
Wagner – Sacred Heart Series History:
- Friday's contest between the Seahawks and the Pioneers is the 20th all-time meeting between the two schools with Sacred Heart holding a 14-4-1 advantage in the head-to-head series.
- Last season, the Green & White was shutout by the Pioneers, 3-0, at home back on October 22, 2017.
- Autumn Clark led the way for the Seahawks with three shots while Mattea Reale, Le'la Allen each had two, with Reale's attempts finding its way on target. For the game, Wagner took 10 shots, four of which counting on goal.
- Katie Viscardi made six saves in the contest.
- Wagner is looking to snap a two-match losing streak to Sacred Heart, last picking up a 1-0 victory on October 30, 2015, on Grymes Hill. The last road victory the Seahawks earned at Sacred Heart dates back to November 2, 2014, in which Wagner was victorious, 1-0.
- Wagner is 3-2 in its last five matches against the Pioneers.
Wagner vs. Northeast Conference:
- Friday's contest with Sacred Heart marks the 169th all-time Northeast Conference (NEC) match the Seahawks will play.
- The most conference victories the Green & White has had in a single season is five, set back in 2014 when Wagner finished second in the league with a 5-1-2 conference mark and a 9-7-3 overall record en route to earning the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament.
Barone Tabbed NEC Player & Rookie of the Week:
- Wagner freshman forward Luisa Barone was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Player and Rookie of the Week for her efforts in leading the Seahawks to a 1-0 overtime victory at LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon.
- For Barone, it is her first collegiate weekly NEC honor. With the Parsippany, NJ native earning both Player and Rookie honors, she becomes the first Seahawk to receive dual honors from the conference since fellow teammate, senior goalkeeper, Katie Viscardi, was tabbed Defensive and Rookie of the Week back on October 26, 2015.
Seahawks Among The NEC Rankings:
- The Seahawks rank fifth in the conference in total saves with 72 and is fourth in saves per game, averaging six a contest.
- Senior goalkeeper, Katie Viscardi, is fifth in the conference in total saves with 49.
Viscardi Among Top-Five In Career Saves:
- The Hazlet, NJ native has 173 for her career and is just 27 away from reaching the 200 career save plateau.

Scouting The Sacred Heart University Pioneers:
- The Pioneers, who were predicted to finish fifth in the preseason coaches' poll, are currently tied with Robert Morris and Wagner for sixth in the league standings, at 1-3 in the league and 2-11 overall.
- SHU ranks third in the conference in shots with 174 and averaging 13.4 per contest, second-highest in the league.
- In goal, the Pioneers are tied for third in the circuit with Saint Francis, as both teams have made 83 saves with SHU averaging 6.38 through 13 games played.
- Individually, Alex Mesropyan leads the club with three goals and points with seven. Melanie DaSilva, Lindsay Corallo and Maranda Gibbons have chipped in two goals apiece.
- Lindsay Savko, Emily Rosso and Alyssa Hyland have each notched a team-best two assists.
- In goal, Nicole Sambuco has played in 12 matches, earning the start ten times. She has recorded 69 saves (.784 save percentage) while allowing 19 goals on the season (1.84 GAA).
