Women’s Soccer Pink Out Set For Saturday
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s soccer team will host its fifth annual Pink Out game on Saturday, Oct. 25, when the Red Foxes host Monmouth in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tenney Stadium, and admission is free and open to the public.
Marist will welcome the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation; a Hudson River Valley-based organization that provides funding and support services for people affected by breast cancer in the local community.
The Marist Athletics Department will recognize breast cancer survivors with a special on-field ceremony. Survivors that would like to be involved in this ceremony are encouraged to contact Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs, Andy Alongi, via email at redfoxes@marist.edu.
The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation was established to fund support services for people fighting breast cancer in the Hudson Valley. The Foundation was started by Dana Effron and Cathy Varunok, two community activists who saw a need for increased services for people with breast cancer. For years, Dana and Cathy raised money for national breast cancer organizations but in 2004, they decided to focus their fundraising efforts on helping their friends and neighbors in the eight counties of the Hudson Valley, New York. The Foundation's Executive Director is Pari Forood. For more information, visit www.milesofhope.org.
