Women's Soccer Remains Perfect with Win Over Alfred
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women’s soccer team remained perfect on the season with a 3-0 win over Alfred on Wednesday night.
Frankie Embrescia opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a chip shot over Alfred’s Ashley Frazell, and less than 10 minutes later, Emily Mitchell connected with Lindsay Sherman, who scored her second goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Mitchell would net her first career goal late in the second half to cap the scoring. Alisa Cornell collected six saves en route to posting her second shutout of the year. The Panthers outshot Alfred 13-6 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
“Phenomenal leadership and performance from Lindsay [Sherman] tonight,” said head coach Mike Idland. “We are off to a great start but we have to maintain this level of play going into Friday’s match and beyond.”
Pitt-Bradford improves to 3-0 and will host St. Vincent on Friday at 2 p.m.
