Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten With 4-0 Win Over Hilbert (N.Y.)
ALLIANCE, Ohio--Freshman Allison Fouss (Lowell/Marietta) and junior Kylee Kolesar(Mentor/Mentor) hooked up for a pair of goals to give the Mount Union women's soccer team a 4-0 victory over Hilbert (N.Y.). The Purple Raiders have not allowed a goal yet this season and the 3-0 start is the team's best since 2002.
The Raiders struck quickly when Fouss received a pass in the box from Kolesar for her first collegiate goal in the 12th minute. Fouss gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute off another Kolesar pass. Kolesar later added a goal of her own when she headed a corner kick from freshman Emily Love (Hudson/Walsh Jesuit) past the keeper.
Senior Alyssa Flitcraft (Alliance/Marlington) scored the other Purple Raider goal of the game. In the 67th minute, she took a beautiful lead pass from freshman Nicole Moldovan (Cortland/Lakeview) and beat the keepr for the goal. Flitcraft nearly recorded her first career hat trick. She had a shot in the 35th minute hit the post on a breakaway and had a goal disallowed on and offsides call in the 74th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky (Canfield/Canfield) recorded her second career shutout for the Purple Raiders. She turned away all four shots that she faced in the game.
Mary Zinni saved seven shots for Hilbert.
Mount Union returns to action September 7th when they travel to Westminster (Pa.). A victory will match last season's win total.
