Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Albertus Magnus, 1-0 In GNAC Action
The women's soccer team made it five straight victories with a 1-0 win over Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams battled throughout the first half and took the scoreless tie heading into halftime with both teams managing just two shots on goal. Johnson & Wales senior Amanda Aguiar (Fall River, Mass.) would break the deadlock in the 49th minute when she put in a pass from freshman Alexa Appelman (Marlboro, N.J.). That would be all the scoring for the afternoon as JWU was able to hold on for the 1-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kara Collins (North Arlington, N.J.) secured her third shutout for the season with four saves while Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) had three stops in the net for Albertus Magnus.
With the win JWU improves to 5-3 and remains in first place in the GNAC with a perfect 4-0 mark while Albertus Magnus falls to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in league play with the setback. The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, September 28th when they travel to Emerson for a GNAC contest, starting at 5:30 p.m.
