Women's Soccer Suffer Defeat At Canisius, 4-
BUFFALO, NY – The Iona College fell on the road to the Golden Griffs Saturday afternoon, 4-1. Canisius used four first half goals to hand the Maroon & Gold the defeat. Freshman Mariah Elsenheimer scored her first collegiate goal in the loss.
The Maroon & Gold have five shots on goal, one each from Elsenheimer, juniors Brianna Hernandez and Marisa Bentley, senior Christine Rebus, and sophomore Kiri Dale. Junior Tiffany Martinez faced 19 shots, making eight saves.
Freshman Tamara McCarthy recorded her first assist of the season on Iona’s lone goal.
Iona ended the game with 13 shots, its sixth consecutive contest with at least double-digit scoring attempts. The Gaels have allowed 3+ goals in their last three games.
The Maroon & Gold return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 19 when they host Rider University.
