Although favored, the Longhorns did not have an ideal start versus Boston University, going down 1-0 just 20 minutes into the match. Then Ward stepped up with a 29th-minute equalizer and three more second-half goals to quench all hopes of an upset. When the dust settled, the Canadian native had scored all four in the 4-1 first-round victory.
