Women’s Team of the Week: Nov. 24-30
For the second time in three weeks, midfielder Morgan Brian delivered a match-winning performance.
This time, the Virginia stalwart scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal, a second-half strike against previously undefeated UCLA. It was the second goal of the game, and first time the Bruins had conceded two goals since Nov. 23, 2012.
The 2-1 lead stood up as the Cavaliers secured a trip to the College Cup for the second straight year.

TDS Team of the Week: (Nov. 24-30):
Player of the Week: M Morgan Brian, Virginia
GK Jordan Day, Texas A&M – While Day was slightly fortunate to escape a booking on a Penn State breakaway, she stood tall through the 90 minutes, making a total of seven saves to maintain a 2-1 margin against Penn State.
D Kendall Romine, Stanford – It wasn’t a perfect day for the Cardinal back line, which conceded twice and needed penalties to progress, but Romine’s set piece goal was critical as the team managed to do what needed to be done to advance to Boca Raton.
D Emily Sonnett, Virginia – The center back continued a marauding run to open the scoring against UCLA’s impenetrable defense, and Sonnett helped the Cavaliers weather the storm after the Bruins pulled one back, eventually holding on to a victory.
D McKayla Paulson, Texas A&M – Penn State had its share of chances in College Station, but the defense stood firmly, including a solid 90-minute performance by the freshman center back Paulson.
M Jamia Fields, Florida State – The Seminoles put in a dominant shift, pouring five past the Gamecocks to make a fourth straight College Cup. Fields scored twice in the victory, as she continued to excel from her wide midfield spot.
M Morgan Brian, Virginia – Scoring the game winning goal against the defending champions is another accomplishment in Brian’s decorated career, as she takes aim at a national title this weekend in Boca Raton.
M Michaela Hahn, Florida State – It was another excellent shift for the central midfielder, whose name rarely dots the stat sheet but has been a critical part of Florida State’s success.
M Havana Solaun, Florida – Her performance technically didn’t come in a losing effort, as Solaun’s Gators lost on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw, but it was her equalizing goal in the 79th minutes that ensured extra time would be played.
M Andi Sullivan, Stanford – Battling Solaun for long stretches of the game, Sullivan’s set piece delivery led to Romine’s goal, and her play continued to reinforce the suggestion that she is the top freshman in the country in 2014.
F Cheyna Williams, Florida State – Williams bagged a pair of second half goals to put the result out of question against South Carolina, as she was once again a menace while leading the line for the Seminoles up front.
F Allie Bailey, Texas A&M – Credited with both goals against Penn State (one deflected off a defender), Bailey’s grit and determination on both tallies embodied the Aggies’ performance in the 2-1 victory.
Honorable Mention: M Raquel Rodriguez (Penn State), D Meghan Streight (Texas A&M), M Salina Williford (Penn State), F Chioma Ubogagu (Stanford), GK Taylor Burke (Florida), D Caprice Dydasco (UCLA), F Shea Groom (Texas A&M)
