Women's Top 100 Freshmen list unveiled
In a most unusual season, the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Freshman Top 100 list returns.
Looking at some of the top first-year players in women's Division I soccer, with programs playing in the fall and spring, this year's list is even trickier than usual.
Plenty of freshmen are doing well in the current campaign, however, but some fall standouts top the list. Marz Akins, the TCU center back, sits at the top spot just ahead of ACC Freshman of the Year Lia Godfrey. Akins has anchored one of the best defenses in the country, as the Horned Frogs are currently ranked at No. 3 in the TDS Top 25. She's played every minute of the 10 matches she's appeared in across the fall and spring.
Ranked at No. 3 is SEC Freshman of the Year Barbara Olivieri. Rounding out the top five are key starters at powerhouse programs, with Eva Alonso (Penn State) and Reilyn Turner (UCLA) enjoying strong college debuts in the spring.
The final rankings and postseason awards will be released after a Division I champion is crowned in May.
