Wyoming Soccer Announces 2015 Recruits
The University of Wyoming women’s soccer program has announced the addition of nine student-athletes who will join the Cowgirls for the 2015 season. Taylor Burton, Annika Clayton, Jessie Gentle, Charlotte Hume, Alyssa Murray, Cristina Salazar, Jordin Schaller, Summer Taube and Megan Weems. They are joined by Shaina Ashouri, who transferred to Wyoming after one season at Pittsburgh.
“We’re very excited for the 2015 recruiting class of nine incoming student-athletes,” UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. “We went out to find players that were going to compete at a high level every chance they could. I think this class will make our program stronger and continue to build depth.”
These players will join 17 returning Cowgirls, including 15 that started at least one match from 2014 campaign. UW finished the season 11-9-1, after reaching the championship of the Mountain West Tournament. It was the Cowgirls second appearance at the MW championships in the last four seasons.

Taylor Burton – Defender – Centennial, Colo. (Cherokee Trail HS)
Burton has been a part of the Colorado Rush Soccer Club since 2010 where her team was crowned Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) National Champions in 2012. Burton was also a member of the Colorado ODP State Team and participated in both Region IV camps and Region IV championships. A four year varsity starter for Cherokee Trail High School, she was a two-time Team MVP and three-time All-Conference honoree. The daughter of Chris and Christine Burton, she has one older sister, Emily, who plays soccer at Western Colorado, and two younger siblings Rebekah and Brayden. Burton plans to study elementary education at UW.
Annika Clayton – Midfielder – Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (Pymble Ladies College)
A member of the Australian national team in 2009, Clayton was also selected for the Australian Schoolgirls National Team that toured the UK in 2013 and 2014. In addition, Clayton was named the player of the tournament at the National Schoolgirls event in 2014. Clayton currently competes for the Sydney University Club that advanced to the W-League semifinals. The daughter of Michael Clayton and Karina Stafford, she has three brothers Sam, Simon and Tony. Clayton plans to study biology at UW.
Jessie Gentle – Forward/Defender – Woolgoolga, New South Wales, Australia (Woolgoolga HS)
A four-sport athlete at Woolgoolga High School, Gentle played soccer, cross country, rugby and swimming and was a representative of the Australian Schoolgirls National Team for past three years. Gentle was a part of the North Coast team since 2011 where her team was the runner up in State Youth League. She earned a players’ player award with the North Coast team in 2011 and 2014. She also represented Northern NSW soccer at National Youth Championships in 2010 and 2011. Gentle was awarded the Pierre De Coubertin award for sporting achievement her senior year. The daughter of Steve and Deb Gentle, she has three brothers Jeremy, Mick and Jimmy. Gentle plans to study kinesiology at UW.
Charlotte Hume – Midfielder – Parker, Colo. (Chaparral HS)
A four-year varsity letter winner for Chaparral High School, Hume captained her team in 2014 and received Honorable Mention All-Conference. Hume also earned Academic All-State First Team honors her junior year and has received several academic awards while maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. A member of the Colorado Storm Soccer Club the past three years, Hume participated on the State Cup semifinal team in 2014 and has consistently guest played for Real Colorado throughout the years. The daughter of Ryan and Jill Hume, she has two brothers, Davis and Jason, and two sisters, Hannah and Grace. Hume plans to study exercise science and nutrition at UW.
Alyssa Murray - Defender – Bonney Lake, Wash. (Sumner HS)
A two-sport athlete at Sumner High School, Murray played soccer and track and was the state champion her freshman year in the mile. She also garnered top-ten finishes in Washington in both the mile and 4x400 relay for three straight years. Murray has played varsity soccer all four years and won two state team titles. She also earned two consecutive All-League honors and was First Team All-State in the 2014. A member of the Washington Premier FC, Murray has participated in the ECNL the past four years where her teams were Flight B National Champions in 2012. The daughter of Todd and Lisa Murray, she has one older sister, Alex, and one younger brother, Stephen. She plans to study health sciences at UW.
Cristina Salazar – Goalkeeper – Centennial, Colo. (Grandview HS)
A two-sport athlete at Grandview High School, Salazar is a two-year varsity letter winner in basketball and four-year letter winner in soccer. Salazar is also a three-year honor roll and Spanish honor society student as well as a two-year AP Scholar. Salazar has been a member of the Colorado Storm ECNL team for the past three years. The daughter of Jose and Maribel Salazar, she has two brothers, Alejandro and Andres, and one sister, Victoria. She plans to study criminal justice at UW and attend law school after graduation.
Jordin Schaller – Defender – Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty HS)
A four-year varsity starter for Doherty High School, Schaller has garnered several awards including two-time Honorable Mention All-Area and Team MVP honors in 2014. Schaller has also been a member of the Pride Predators and Pikes Peak Rush club teams. The daughter of Mike and Jeanie Schaller, she has one older sister, Alicia. She plans to study zoology and biology at UW.
Summer Taube – Midfielder – Las Vegas, Nev. (Silverado HS)
Taube has been a member of the Heat FC team since 2010 where they’ve competed in ECNL. Taube played varsity soccer at Silverado High School her freshman year before playing strictly for the Heat FC the following three years. An AP and honor student, Taube earned Science Student of the Month in 2014. The daughter of Rodney Eagle and Antoinette Guizzotti, she has four siblings (Alea and Shane Taube, Jaxsen Eagle and Justin Rainville). She plans to study nursing at UW.
Megan Weems – Midfielder – Sedalia, Colo. (Castle View HS)
A four-year varsity starter for Castle View High School, Weems has received both letter winner and All-Academic awards throughout her career. Weems also played for the Real Colorado Soccer Club for five years where her team was the State Cup runner-up in 2012. The daughter of Chris and Charlotte Weems, she has one brother, Austin. Weems plans to study nursing at UW.
