HS: 2015-16 TeamSnap All-America
The TeamSnap All-America package is the culmination of months of research and evaluation of the top high school-playing talent in the nation. While high school soccer is offered in the fall, winter or spring -- depending on state -- TopDrawerSoccer waits until after the school year is complete to release its All-America, All-Region and state All-Stars. Fall-playing states are acknowledged Tuesday, followed by winter-playing states on Wednesday and spring-playing states on Thursday. The lists are compiled by TDS senior high school editor Sheldon Shealer and reflects observation and information provided by coaches and local reporters.
SPRING: Southeast boys, Midwest girls dominate All-America selections
When it comes to spring boys soccer, only 13 states are in action -- most of them in the Southeast. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Southeast laid claim to nine of 12 first-team selections and the national coach of the year. By contrast, spring girls soccer is predominantly played in the Midwest and that group claimed seven of 12 first-team spots.
TDS honors 12 first-team and 12 second-team players on its seasonal All-America team, which is pulled from the "Great Eighty-Eight" -- the 88 players who received All-Region honors. In addition, every spring-playing state is represented in our list of State All-Stars.
The girls team is led by several players with U.S. Youth National Team experience, including Ella Stevens, who helped the U.S. Under-20 Women's Team through a successful World Cup qualifying group. All 12 first-team girls players have committed or signed with NCAA Division I programs. Duke was the only college receiving two first-team honorees.
Lucas Mendes of [Washington-Lee va-m] (Arlington, Va.) was named player of the year over a talented field that included three players who competed in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) this spring and a Peruvian Under-20 National Team invitee. Ten of the 12 first-team selections are seniors and all 12 have signed or committed to NCAA Division I programs.
The coaches of the year both have interesting stories. The girls honoree is the daughter of the coach who guided a team to the very first FAB 50 national title in the 1990s. The boys coach of the year is one of the nation's all-time winningest coaches who reached yet another milestone in a state final victory in 2016.

WINTER: Three power states deliver bulk of All-Americans
Only seven states play high school soccer during the winter, but three of those states -- California, Florida and Texas -- make it the most talent-filled season of the school year. Those three states combined for 42 of the 48 All-America honorees. California led the way with 18 honorees, followed by Texas with 13 and Florida with 11. California and Texas combined for 19 of the 24 girls picks, while California and Florida combined for 15 of the boys selections.
TDS honors 12 first-team and 12 second-team players on its seasonal All-America team, which is pulled from the "Great Eighty-Eight" -- the 88 players who received All-Region honors. In addition, every winter-playing state is represented in our list of State All-Stars.
The girls first-team All-America accounted for more than 300 goals -- this season! The four forwards combined for 141 goals. Not to be outdone, the five midfielders -- led by a 60-goal performer -- combined for 172 goals. Despite the heavy offense, the Player of the Year honor went to the goalkeeper.
For the second straight year, the Winter Boys Player of the Year went to a defensive-minded standout from Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), which accounted for five members on the All-America teams. Coppell, with two selections, was the only other school with multiple All-Americans this year.

FALL: East is the beast for high school soccer
Twenty-eight of the 48 players and both Coaches of the Year on the fall-season high school soccer All-America list, presented by TeamSnap, hail from the states that were the original 13 colonies. Such numbers, however, might not be a huge surprise given high school soccer in the East is largely a fall-only sport.
For the second straight year, New Jersey lays claim to the most honorees with seven. Maryland follows with six, then Connecticut -- driven by the Prep School players -- and Ohio each with five.
TDS honors 12 first-team and 12 second-team players on its seasonal All-America team, which is pulled from the "Great Eighty-Eight" -- the 88 players who received All-Region honors. In addition, every fall-playing state is represented in our list of State All-Stars.
The girls first-team All-America list includes five players who are bound for ACC programs and two high-scoring sophomores who combined for nearly 80 goals last season. Just about every player has been part of a U.S. Soccer Youth National Team camp.
Every member of the boys first-team All-America teams have signed or committed to NCAA Division I programs, many of them to college soccer national powers.
