HS: Fall FAB 50, Oct. 24

The FAB 50 girls title could be decided this weekend as two states with teams in the girls Top 10 wrap up play this week, including top-ranked Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.).

No. 5 [Germantown Houston tn-w] (Germantown, Tenn.) and No. 10 Guerin Catholic (Noblesville, Ind.) also eye state titles this week. Penn and Guerin Catholic go head-to-head in the Indiana 3A state final.

On the boys side, St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) left little doubt about who should be No. 1 after rolling over former FAB 50-ranked Delran (N.J.) 11-0.

There was no change in the boys Top 10 as the teams combined to 18-0. On the girls side, Guerin is the lone newcomer to the Top 10, inching up one spot from No. 11 last week. The top eight girls teams combined to go 18-0 last week.

BIG MOVERS: BOYS: McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.). For the second week in a row, a Maryland school occupies the Big Mover title. Last week, the honor went to Archbishop Cuyrley, but this week McDonogh's seven-spot jump was among the most significant of the week and puts this two-loss team on track to re-enter the Top 25. ... GIRLS: Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.). With an undefeated record, Eastern made a nine-spot jump this week to check in at No. 27.

NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 40 Northwestern Lehigh (New Tripoli, Pa.), No. 41 Albuquerque (N.M.), No. 42 Grant (Portland, Ore.), No. 43 Air Academy (USAF Academy, Colo.), No. 44 [St. Louis University High mo-m] (St. Louis, Mo.), No. 46 Wesleyan Christian (High Point, N.C.), No. 47 Heritage (Wake Forest, N.C.), No. 49 Evansville Memorial (Evansville, Ind.) and No. 50 New Trier (Winnetka, Ill.). ... GIRLS: No. 38 Owen J. Roberts (Pottstown, Pa.), No. 40 Norwin (Irwin, Pa.), No. 44 Hingham (Mass.), No. 47 East Pennsboro (Enola, Pa.) and No. 48 Spencerport (N.Y.).
