HS: Fall SIMA FAB 50, Aug. 23
About a third of all fall-playing states have started, and the early regular season play has done little to alter the SIMA FAB 50 landscape.
St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) boys, which have yet to play, and Davis (Kaysville, Utah) girls, off to a 4-0 start, remain the No. 1 teams.
A tie between former No. 3 Brebeuf Jesuit (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Top 25-ranked Zionsville (Ind.) resulted in Brebeuf dropping in this week's rankings and Colts Neck (N.J.), Penn (Mishawaka, Ind.) and Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) moving into the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 spots, respectively, behind Davis and Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.).
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Mason (Ohio). Mason, despite heavy graduation from last year's Top 25-ranked team, opened with an impressive four-goal win. ... GIRLS: Carmel (Ind.) moved from No. 19 to No. 13 following a pair of two-goal wins over regionally ranked opponents to start the season.
NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 22 Canton (Mich.), No. 33 East Kentwood (Kentwood, Mich.), No. 44 St. Louis University High (St. Louis, Mo.), No. 47 Covington Catholic (Covington, Ky.), No. 48 Archbishop Curley (Baltimore, Md.), No. 49 North Central (Indianapolis, Ind.). ... GIRLS: No. 47 Indianapolis Cathedral (Indianapolis, Ind.) and No. 50 Lakeville North (Lakeville, Minn.).
