HS: Fall SIMA FAB 50, Sept. 8
TOP STORY: The end of Maria Carrillo's 75-match undefeated streak, and marks the end of the Pumas' stay at No. 1. Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) vaults into the top spot after a win over Maria Carrillo in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge.
The Labor Day weekend brought about a number of important tournaments and nonleague matchups that helped redefine some of the rankings. Carmel (Carmel, Ind.) and Noblesville (Noblesville, Ind.) were big winners at the Lady Eagle Invitational, while Medina (Medina, Ohio) held its own at the event with a pair of shutouts to highlight the weekend in girls soccer. Meanwhile, boys teams from Peoria Notre Dame, Hinsdale Central and La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.) all saw major jumps in this week's SIMA FAB 50 following tournament/mixer victories.
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, Ill.) jumped from No. 48 to No. 24 this week, powered by a 2-1 win over former Top 5-ranked Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.). PND is making its second appearance in the Top 25 this season. GIRLS: Carmel (Carmel, Ind.). The Greyhounds blanked Assumption (Louisville, Ky.) and Brebeuf Jesuit to win the group title at the Lady Eagle Invitational, which led to a six-spot move to No. 6 for this perennial state title challenger. Carmel made the biggest move of the team's ranked in last week's Top 25.
