HS: Montverde, JSerra stay No. 1
While Montverde Academy (Fla.) boys and JSerra (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) girls remain No. 1, there were a few key moves in this week's FAB 50.
Davis (Calif.), sporting one of the nation's longest win streaks, stunned Carondelet (Calif.) 3-0 in a battle of Top 15 programs. The win vaulted Davis to No. 6 from its preseason No. 12 ranking. The result puts Davis clearly in the FAB 50 national title running, as the entire Top 5 have matches against other Top 25 teams.
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: [Seminole (Sanford) fl-m] (Sanford, Fla.). Seminole jumped from No. 38 to No. 25 this week, powered by a 7-0 start. ... GIRLS: Aliso Niguel (Aliso Viejo, Calif.). Aliso Niguel made an eight-spot jump without playing. The sequence of teams losing ahead of this perennial section title challenger allowed the team to move up in advance of its Aliso Cup, which plays out this week.
