HS: Spring SIMA FAB 50, May 10
TOP STORY LINES: By week's end, the SIMA FAB 50 Spring No. 1 teams may be determined. Of course, by mid-week, it's possible both current No. 1s might no longer be in the race for the top spots. Such is the high stakes that comes with state playoff time.
Chattahoochee (Alpharetta, Ga.) boys and Tulsa Union (Tulsa, Okla.) girls enter this week with the abel of No. 1 team, and both next compete in state semifinals matches. Chattachoochee faces Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), which poses a serious threat to Chattahoochee's No. 1 ranking. Meanwhile, defending state champ and SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 girls team Tulsa Union takes on Edmond North (Edmond, Okla.), a team it defeated 1-0 in overtime at the Heart of America Classic.
BIG MOVERS -- BOYS: T.C. Williams (Alexandria, Va.). Considered to be one of the state's real title threats this year, T.C. Williams jumps from No. 46 to No. 22 this week. The key victory was a 4-1 result over West Springfield, which played Top 10-ranked Oakton to a 2-0 match last week. GIRLS: Ankeny Centennial (Ankeny, Iowa). A week after winning a bracket at the adidas Tournament of Champions, Centennial tgged on a coupled more wins to leap from No. 33 to No. 25 this week.
NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 25 Boyd-Buchanan School (Chattanooga, Tenn.), No. 28 Allatoona (Acworth, Ga.), No. 46 East Hall (Gainesville, Ga.), No. 47 Kentwood (Covington, Wash.) and No. 48 Milton (Ga.). GIRLS: No. 26 Blue Valley West (Overland Park, Kan.), No. 31 Gretna (Neb.), No. 46 Eau Claire Memorial (Eau Claire, Wis.) and No. 48 Grand Blanc (Mich.).
