HS: Spring SIMA FAB 50, May 24
TOP STORY LINES: The run of Georgia and Virginia No. 1 teams is over, and now Oak Mountain (Birmingham, Ala.) stands at the top of the SIMA FAB 50 boys rankings for the first time ever.
Oak Mountain completed a 28-0-2 session a week earlier, but sat behind undefeated and star-studden [Washington-Lee va-m] (Arlington, Va.) until W-L was upset in the district tournament last week.
BIG MOVERS -- BOYS: Edmond North (Edmond, Okla.). Edmond North avenged two of its three regular season losses in the playoffs en route to a Class 6A crown, the program's second in four seasons. Edmond North jumped from No. 49 to No. 15 following the 2-1 overtime win over Tulsa Union (Tulsa, Okla.). GIRLS: Several teams jumped nine spots in this week's rankings as playoff exits by higher ranked teams allowed last week's Nos. 41 through 49 to move up to No. 32 through 40.
NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 42 Central Valley (Spokane Valley, Wash.), No. 43 Lake Braddock (Burke, Va.), No. 45 Dobyns-Bennett (Kingsport, Tenn.), No. 48 CAK (Knoxville, Tenn.). GIRLS: No. 42 [Cedar Rapids, Kennedy ia-w] (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), No. 43 Rocklin (Calif.), No. 44 Mountain Vista (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), No. 46 Deep Run (Glen Allen, Va.), No. 47 Mills Godwin (Richmond, Va.), No. 49 Novi (Mich.), No. 50 St. Catherine's School (Richmond, Va.).
