HS: State, Region rankings, Sept. 5
Travel and Labor Day weekend seem to go hand-in-hand for families across the nation.
The same is true for the high school soccer crowd. Tournaments and mixer events this past weekend in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri along with girls teams from New Mexico and Ohio traveling to California and boys teams from Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin meeting, helped reshape this week's TopDrawerSoccer state and regional rankings. In fact, this is the most important time of the season to earn a ranking for teams able to break out of its local play to see how they stack up against teams from other states.
The big winners this past weekend included Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.) girls, who went 2-0 at the Lady Eagle Invitational; Strongsville (Ohio), which won its opener in California in advance of Monday's clash with perennial fall power Maria Carrillo (Calif.); and Olathe East (Kan.) boys, who toppled SIMA FAB 50 Top 25-ranked Park Hill South (Mo.).
