HS: Winter SIMA FAB 50, Jan. 24
The Golden State is on the rise.
Although the boys No. 1 hails from Florida and the current girls No. 1 is from Texas, more than half of the teams between the boys and girls SIMA FAB 50s are from California.
There are 23 boys teams and 28 girls teams from California in the rankings this week, marking the highest single-state representation in the FAB 50s this year. Of course, California's volumne is no surprise given the depth and quality in the state, coupled with the out-of-state showings of several ranked teams.
BIG MOVERS: BOYS: Santa Barbara (Calif.). Santa Barbara moved from No. 34 to No. 16 this week in a week that saw a lot of shuffling among the California teams. ... GIRLS: California (San Ramon, Calif.). California returns to the biggest mover title as it vaults from No. 40 to No. 15 this week following a victory over former Top 5-ranked Livermore (Calif.).
NEWCOMERS: BOYS: No. 42 Hueneme (Oxnard, Calif.), No. 44 Marin Academy (San Rafael, Calif.), No. 47 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.), No. 48 St. Augustine (San Diego, Calif.) and No. 50 Naaman Forest (Garland, Texas). ...
