Jerles, Kizer named HS PotW
Jacob Jerles, a senior forward from Norman North High School (Norman, Oklahoma), and CeCe Kizer, a senior forward from Blue Valley Northwest High School (Overland Park, Kansas), are the TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Players of the Week.
Jerles, a Central Arkansas commit, is making good use of his final season with Oklahoma juggernaut Norman North. The T-Wolves entered their match against Bishop McGuinness last week with an 8-1 overall mark and a 3-0 district record, but the test was a stern one. Enter Jerles, who scored a hat trick to guide rolling North to a 4-1 victory. Jerles scored the T-Wolves’ first, but the game was tied with less than 20 minutes left when Jerles went off. He scored the ultimate game-winner for a 2-1 lead, and he added the capper off a penalty kick to finish the deed.
There aren’t many girls prospects in Kansas with more next-level upside than Kizer, who’s a standout with the Blue Valley Northwest ECNL side. Last week, she put in perhaps her best weeklong individual performance ever in BV Northwest’s three victories. In just three games, Kizer managed to score a whopping seven goals and tally up two assists. That brought her season total to 19 goals and nine assists through just 11 matches, helping her high school side to a No. 5 national ranking in the SIMA FAB 50 spring rankings. She’ll be at Ole Miss this time next year.
Other boys finalists include Geromino Kurzbach (Washington-Lee High School, Arlington, Virginia) and Ferid Hodiac (Iowa City High School, Iowa City, Iowa). Other girls finalists include Karlina Panella (Padua Academy, Wilmington, Delaware) and Emilene Parham (Battlefield High School, Haymarket, Virginia).
The TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Player of the Week honor is designed to highlight a selection of the nation's rising stars populating the high school ranks. Coaches are free to nominate a boys or girls player each week by emailing their submission to Will Parchman at wparchman@topdrawersoccer.com. Be sure to include the school, position, grade year and any relevant stats from the previous week. The selection process will take into account a slew of factors from contribution to team results to individual accolades. Honorees are announced each Wednesday.
