Region, State HS Rankings: November 3
The SIMA FAB 50 Girls Fall No. 1 could have been settled Sunday.
Instead, the drama will continue.
The original schedule had No. 1 Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) playing No. 4 Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington, N.J.) at the exact same time No. 2 McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) was playing in its championship match.
Although McDonogh finished its perfect season Sunday afternoon, the Eagles remain No. 2 in the East Region as the Northern Highlands-Immaculate Heart match was postponed to Monday due to inclement weather, led by gusting winds. The outcome of the Northern Highlands-IHA clash, if played Monday, will be reflected in next week's state, region and SIMA FAB 50 rankings.
Around the country this week, some of the big winners in girls soccer were Fishers (Fishers, Ind.), claiming a state title over perennial power Carmel (Carmel, Ind.) in a clash of SIMA FAB 50 Top 25 teams. Clarksville (Clarksville, Tenn.) upended defending state champion [Germantown Houston tn-w] (Germantown, Tenn.) in the state's Class AAA final, which will move Clarksville into the FAB 50 Top 25 this week after spending last week at No. 33. Eagan (Eagan, Minn.) capped an undefeated season with the Class AA state crown in Minnesota, which will bring it a Top 25 ranking, as well.
On the boys side, Canton (Canton, Mich.) secured a final SIMA FAB 50 Top 10 finish after winning the Michigan Division I crown to complete an undefeated season. Milwaukee Marquette (Milwaukee, Wis.) won the Wisconsin top division, DeMatha Catholic claimed the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title and Guerin Catholic (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Goshen (Goshen, Ind.) won the Indiana state titles, all securing their places among the SIMA FAB 50 this week.
