Region, State HS Rankings: October 6
The Gateway Soccer Classic, the nation's most important fall boys soccer event, did little to change the regional rankings this season, as most of the favorites delivered during the weather-interupted event.
Among the most significant matches at the Gateway event, Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.) defeated Washburn Rural (Topeka, Kan.), flip-flopping those teams in the boys Midwest region, returning Chaminade to the top spot. Also, St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio) pinned two-goal losses on Vianney (St. Louis, Mo.) and South Kent School (South Kent, Conn.), and [Marquette wi-m] (Milwaukee, Wis.) went 3-0, once again confirming their place among the nation's top fall programs.
In girls action, the only change at a region No. 1 ranking came in the Northwest, where Skyline reinherits the top spot after a loss by former top-ranked Kentridge (Kent, Wash.).
