Nike Pro Combat pitch proven, Rooney approved
November 6, 2009
Nike’s latest protective base layer product line is called the “Nike Pro Combat,” released in September 2009. Their tagline issues a new challenge to players to gear up and “Prepare for Combat.” Inherent in the Pro Combat is the understanding that being on the pitch is akin to priming for battle. Players on the field take advantage when an opponent reveals a weakness. Any good fighter waiting for a victory straps on the best gear to make sure they have the best arsenal to bring into play.
The Nike Pro Combat is a lightweight, breathable padded protective base layer designed to provide sport-specific protection to athletes without restricting flexibility. Their Nike Pro Combat Impact Short is engineered to have a moisture-wicking base with a layer of EVA foam cell pods on the legs to absorb and disperse the force of an impact.
The Nike Pro Combat men’s slider shorts heighten execution with less pain enabling a player to confidently go in for the open field slide tackle. Made from Dri-fit fabric with anti-abrasion panels at the hips for added protection, sporting these, players can play with the same intensity as Rooney, “You got to expect kicks, because you get them every game.”
Their thermals are designed of the same mind – to enable the player to play unhindered and with aggression. The Nike Pro core thermal mock men’s training shirt keeps in mind that defenders will use anything to slow you down, including your shirt. Nikesoccer.com says, “You want a top that’s as tough as your will, but you also want it to stay dry and breathe as the match progresses.” Indeed, worthy of Rooney’s game.
Available for other sports like football and basketball, the Pro Combat is used by professional athletes who are game for the fray equipped and ready to win.
Rooney encourages players, “Have the same attitude for every game: Try to win every game. Win at any cost.”
