03s, 04s finish at Girls ODP Interregionals
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The 2003 and 2004 age groups closed out play on Thanksgiving and the West 2003 squad had a lot to be thankful four as it completed a perfect week at 3-0-0 with a 4-1 victory over the South at the Spanish River Athletic Complex.
The South (1-2-0) opened the scoring on a goal by Isabel Kimberly (Jacksonville, FL) in the seventh minute and the West’s Jourdyn Curran (Ewa Beach, HI) equalized in the 26th minute.
Olivia Garcia (Las Vegas, NV), who finished with five goals in three games, broke a 1-1 tie in the 59th minute and then added another for good measure in the 70th minute. Caly Ah Soon (Ewa Beach, HI) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 79th minute.
West coach Tiffeny Milbrett said the challenge for her team was to finish off with their strongest performance and they accomplished that scoring as many goals on Thanksgiving as it had the previous two games combined.

“Three games in five days in this weather…not any one of us is used to this,” Milbrett said. “The heat and humidity was a challenge and we wanted to make sure that our team is growing and progressing through the week.
“Regardless of the scoreline, you could still be fabulous and lose, but I was proud and the scoreline today was reflective in general the overall strength of this group and that is exciting,” Milbrett added. “Olivia was a workhorse. She was skilled, smart, and one of the funnest players I have seen in a long time.”
Other standouts for the West were Roz Slichko (Puyallup, WA) and Kendall Killian (Portland, OR).
