With the 2017 USL season set to kick off this weekend, some of the best Academy talent currently stocking rosters could get a sneak peek at professional soccer.
Amateur deals have allowed players to get pro exposure while retaining college eligibility, while adding another level to a young player’s development. This generally applies solely to MLS-run USL sides, as the close relationship and operating status remains a key part of dictating that certain youngsters can play.
Here’s a look at some of the Academy players that could get a run out this year in the USL.
