Big name surprises commit to small schools
November 10, 2011
Not every top player is looking for the major program with the sexy name. Nestor Jaramillo wasn’t.
He just wanted a place committed to his future on and off the field; a quality up-and-coming team where he’d feel comfortable.
Jaramillo, the No. 43 ranked player in our 2012 Top 100, found all those things in Wofford where he committed for the 2012 season, spurning other potential big-name choices.

“Being at a smaller school is a plus for me because the teachers and coaches give you more of a sense of caring,” Jaramillo said. “When you're having any kind of problems I know they will be there for you, and that's important to me.”A star striker for South Carolina United FC, it was also a plus for Jaramillo that he gets to play out his college career instate.
Jaramillo plays with a great work ethic and has a great attitude for the game that compliments his physical skill.
It will serve him well at the next level that he’ll also be in his comfort zone.
A second big 2012 prospect also made recent commitment news when John Lujano announced he had verbally committed to SMU.
Lujano is the No. 67 ranked player in the Top 100 and an athletic attacking presence who stars for Shattuck St. Mary’s Academy.
“I ended up committing to SMU for next year because of the great academic program, and the fact that they have a really good recruiting class and coaching staff,” Lujano explained.
Lujano will be joining the likes of Michael King, Derek Schrick and Leobardo Vazquez as incoming freshmen.
