Dominant Academy player chooses college
May 10, 2011
Dominant.
That’s the best way to describe Adrian Alabi’s performance this season in the Development Academy. The Concorde Fire striker has put up 19 goals in 23 games this year and he’s done it while leading the team to the top record in the country.
Dominant, we say.
Stanford agrees. Alabi recently committed to the Cardinal for the 2012 season, ending a decision process that included some heavy hitting programs.
Alabi had narrowed his list down to Stanford, Maryland, Northwestern, Michigan, Princeton and Harvard. He mad visits to each campus but was smitten by the one in Palo Alto, California.
“On my visit to Stanford, I was blown away with the atmosphere and setting of the campus. The weather is fantastic and the campus is gorgeous,” he said. “Having the top athletic program, over all sports, in the nation, I knew I would have the facilities and resources to become the best soccer player I can be while also getting a top notch education. I also felt that I related well with the team and would enjoy my time there with them as well.”
Joining Alabi in the headlines this week is William Crawford (Carolina Elite Soccer Academy), who has signed with Trinity for the 2011 season.
Crawford is ranked No. 8 in a South Region that includes other standouts like Boyd Okwuonu, George Fradenburg, Chandler Gagnon and Cole Iverson.
Matthew A. Delph (ISA Cruzers) has signed to Adelphi University(m) for the 2011 season.
Jack Gorab (Slammers FC) has verbally committed to Brown for the 2012 season.
Sheldon Medici (Vardar) has signed with Western Michigan for the 2011 season. Medici, a goalkeeper, is No. 16 in the Great Lakes Region and one of the standout young keepers of the Development Academy.
Jannik Eckenrode (ABGC) has verbally committed to Radford for the 2012 season.
Brian Bartichek (Massapequa SC) has signed with Rider for the 2011 season.
Esteban Montano (Weston FC) has signed with Florida Gulf Coast(m) for the 2011 season
Cody Huntley (Brentwood SC) has signed with Cincinnati for the 2011 season.
