ECNL scoring ace makes 2020 commitment
The 2020 recruiting class is shaping up to be an impressive one for Penn State.
While there is a lot of time between now and when the class matriculates, the Nittany Lions picked up a promising young goal scorer as Ellie Wheeler reported her commitment to the school on Friday.

Wheeler, an athletic attacking player that can either play up front or line up on the wing, scored 14 goals during the ECNL regular season for her FC Virginia side, including two hat tricks at December's ECNL National Event in Florida. The U16 outfit finished with a 7-4-5 record, as Virginia teams are now on break for the remainder of the club campaign.
The forward topped the ECNL Mid Atlantic Division's scoring charts during the 2015-16 season, and she also has a length resume with Virginia's Olympic Development Program, named to the State team in 2013 and 2014, and was part of an international trip to Spain in France in 2014.
She was also recruited by North Carolina and Duke, among other major DI programs. Wheeler is the second Virginia native to commit to join Penn State in 2020, as No. 1 recruit Jordan Canniff has already committed to join the Nittany Lions.
