Girls Academy Playoffs: Tuesday’s Standouts

Tuesday was the penultimate day for the Girls Academy playoffs in Oceanside. The SoCal Sports Complex certainly showed the wears of hundreds of games over the last week. With six age groups competing at the venue plus showcase games in four of the age groups, there fields have gone through a strenuous workout. The condition of one of the pitches had a coach refer to the center of the field as sandbox.
The championship game at the U13 and U14 level was held on Tuesday. Oklahoma Energy cruised to the title in the 08 age group with a 4-0 win over NEFC. Energy went through the event with only one goal conceded from the five games. Clare Nichols was a standout at a goalkeeper. Cincinnati United CUP won the title in the 07 age group over Lou Fusz.
Wednesday is the last day for the event with all four of the 05 quarterfinal games at 10 am.
