The US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer National Premier League finals are set, and a few surprises have lifted these teams into the top 25.
So Cal Blues, after a hiccup in the Cal South National Cup last month, rebounded as Region IV Champions, beating No. 4 Eagles SC 01 to remain the No. 1 team in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 going into the USYS National Championships.
They will be challenged by a PSG Michigan Gators 02 Orange team that is peaking at the right time. After finishing runner up in both the fall and spring Midwest Regional League seasons, the Gators breezed through the Michigan State Cup with just a single goal against (while putting away 34). Next up was the Region II Championships where the road got tougher, but the Gators came out on top, beating No. 12 Cincinnati United Premier Gold to advance to nationals and land at No. 11 in our rankings.
On the US Club Soccer side, No. 2 PDA Pre-ECNL, No. 3 NEFC Elite, and No. 4 Eagles SC all won their National Premier League divisions to advance to the NPL finals in July.

Slammers had just two losses on the season heading into Tuesday’s ECNL final, both of them to Surf. But the third time was the charm for George Larsen’s group, taking a 2-0 result over the San Diego side to become ECNL National Champions and Grande Sports Academy TeamRank No. 1. After Samantha Randolph headed in the game-winner in the first half, class of 2018 midfielder Destinee Manzo scored a golazo in the second that put the game away.
On the USYS front, Cincinnati United Premier Gold continues to dominate the Midwest, climbing to No. 6 as the season nears its end. This spring, Bobby Puppione’s CUP Gold finished first in its division in the Midwest Regional League, then won the Ohio-South State Cup, and just completed Region II play as champion.
Storm, D’Feeters advance at U15
The top four of So Cal Blues, Solar Chelsea, Crossfire Premier, and Michigan Hawks all lived up to their ranking at the ECNL playoffs in Seattle, winning their respective groups and advancing to the ECNL Finals.
Colorado Storm and D’Feeters were not the top seeds in their respective groups, but earned results throughout the week good enough to advance to the finals. Both Storm and D’Feeters went undefeated in group play and climb to No. 10 and No. 13, respectively.
Next Week: U16, U17, U18 Boys update
Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
