Orlando City SC made its second splash this year in youth national team signings when the club linked 17-year-old center back Tommy Redding to a Homegrown Player contract on Wednesday. Orlando City will join MLS in 2015 while Redding will play with the club in USL-Pro, a lower professional division of soccer in the United States, in 2014. Tyler Turner, another U.S. youth international, signed with the club in February.
While the applause that accompanied the signing focused on Orlando City’s vision to build a young defense with two local players (Turner, from Connecticut, has played recently with IMG Academy in Florida), there is a massive question mark for the Florida franchise moving forward.
