The 2025 NWSL season begins this weekend.
The league’s push to identify and add young talent continued in the offseason, as players are signed from college or continue to bypass it altogether.
There have been early success stories in that department. The likes of Claire Hutton has already played her way into the full U.S. women’s national team. Jaedyn Shaw is a rising star, with 21 caps to her name at just 20 years of age.
Of course, it remains a work in progress in other regards. Players signing at the age of 15 and 16 still lack a professional development pathway. That is sure to keep changing, and isn't limiting the talent to watch in the new season. Here is one player from each team to watch.
